Associate Principal
Jordan Kupersmith is an experienced educational leader with a passion for serving students, supporting staff, and building strong school communities. A graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and former Kansas State University football player, Jordan has dedicated his career to education and leadership throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.
His educational experience includes serving as a social studies teacher, special education teacher, assistant football coach, head football coach, assistant principal, athletic director, and school administrator. These diverse roles have shaped his collaborative leadership style and strengthened his commitment to fostering a positive school culture where students and educators can thrive.
As an administrator, Jordan serves students with the last names P–Z and oversees the Social Studies Department and Special Education Department. He is committed to building strong relationships with students, families, and staff while ensuring every student has the support and opportunities needed to succeed.
Outside of school, Jordan enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan, an assistant superintendent, and their four children. As an active sports family, much of their time is spent supporting their children’s activities. He is a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals and values the lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and community that athletics/ activities provide.
Associate Principal
Shelby Muha is excited to join Shawnee Mission South High School as Associate Principal. With 20 years of experience in Kansas public education, she is committed to creating a school community where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Throughout her career, Muha has served as a teacher, coach, department chair, and district leader. Most recently, she was Department Chair and Career Pathway Facilitator at Olathe West High School, where she led instructional initiatives, supported teacher growth, and expanded student opportunities through Career and Technical Education programs.
Muha believes student success is rooted in belonging, high expectations, and meaningful relationships. She is dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive culture that promotes academic excellence and student well-being.
She holds a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University, an ESOL endorsement, and a Building Leader License from Baker University. Muha is honored to join the Raider family and looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to continue Shawnee Mission South's tradition of excellence.
As an Administrator, Shelby will serve students with the last names A - G, and oversees Activities & Clubs, Assessments and Performing Arts.
Associate Principal
Ben Richardson has been an associate principal at Shawnee Mission South since 2023. Prior to that, Dr. Richardson served as an interim principal for one year and an associate principal for five years at East High School in the Kansas City Public School District. Prior to becoming an administrator, Dr. Richardson was a Government and AP teacher, Social Studies Department Chair, and Varsity Soccer Coach in the Kansas City Public School District.
Dr. Richardson earned his Bachelor's degree from Milligan University in Tennessee and both his Master's of Science in Education and his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Richardson serves as the associate principal of Curriculum and Instruction and is South's 504 Coordinator. He directly supports the Math and World Language departments and will be the administrator for students with the last name starting with H through O.
Athletic Director
Mark Mahoney joins the Shawnee Mission South Raider family after serving as a Physical Education teacher and Department Chair at Olathe Northwest. Mr. Mahoney also served as the ONW Head Softball Coach, Assistant Football Coach and Assistant Basketball Coach. Mark received his education at Fort Hays State University, where he earned his Bachelor's in Healthy/Physical Education and his Masters in Educational Leadership. He also earned his Master's Degree in Health Science from the University of Alabama.
Mark serves as the Athletic Director at Shawnee Mission South.
