Mr. Brad Page
Brad Page joined Shawnee Mission South in the fall of 2015 as a Special Education teacher. Prior to South, Brad served at an Adaptive Special Education teacher at Blue Valley North High School and Lawrence High School. Throughout his tenure in education, Brad has coached football and wrestling at the high school level.
Page attended Baker University as a student-athlete, majoring in History and Special Education. He went on to earn his Master's degree in Adaptive Special Education at Baker University and then in Building Leadership at Emporia State University.
Brad serves as the associate principal for special education; he is also the administrator for students with the last names starting with A through E.
Mr. Nicholas Platko
A lifetime Raider - Nicholas (Niko) Platko attended Shawnee Mission South as a student where he was active in the Performing Arts Department.
Platko attended the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education while minoring in Psychology. He returned to SMS in 2004 to teach Psychology and served as the sponsor of many clubs and groups.
In 2012, Mr. Platko joined the SM South administrative team after receiving his Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Kansas.
Niko serves as the associate principal for activities; he is also the administrator for students with the last names starting with F through M.
Dr. Charles Golden
Dr. Charles Golden joined the Shawnee Mission South team in 2018. Prior to serving at South, he worked in Blue Valley for 17 years, serving first as a Latin teacher and then as an ELA teacher, ELA department chair, and boys tennis assistant coach. Golden attended Baylor University, where he earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in English. After completing and educational licensure program at Avila University, he earned a PhD in English Education from the University of Kansas, as well as National Board certification in Adolescent and Young Adult English Language Arts. Most recently, Golden earned a Master's in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University. He spent the 2016-2017 school year as the administrative intern at Blue Valley High School in Stilwell.
Charles serves as the associate principal for curriculum and instruction; he is also the administrator for students with last names starting with N through Z.
Dr. John Johnson
Dr. John E. Johnson joined the Shawnee Mission South team as a teacher in August of 2000. Prior to serving at South, he taught and coached in the Kansas City, Kansas School District for 9 years. At Shawnee Mission South, John has taught both regular and AP Government, regular and AP Macro/Micro ECON, US History, Law and the Legal Process, and International Relations, and has coached baseball.
John has degrees from Kansas State University (BA-1980); University of Kansas City (ED - 1991); and Washburn University School of Law (JD - 1982). He is licensed to practice law in both the State and Federal Courts in Kansas, as well as in the United States Supreme Court.
John serves as the Athletic Director at Shawnee Mission South.
