Description:  Categories is an academic quiz bowl with competitions among Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley High Schools. The contests are taped for cable television. Each team plays four matches and can qualify for playoffs among the top four teams.

Requirements:          All students are eligible for tryouts. Tryouts are actually practice sessions; five students are chosen for the television competition for each match based upon seniority, academic expertise, and quick reaction time to questions. Team captains are members of each team match.

Meetings and Events:         The season lasts from September to April.
