Christine Sim

Tennis - Class of 1994

"Christine Sim may have been the greatest metro-area tennis player of the 1990's. She was a State placer in both her freshman and sophomore years, but her legend began when she became a junior. During her junior season, she was undefeated (26-0), was the State Champion, the Regional Champion, and the Sunflower League Champion. She was 1st team All-Sun Country and 1st team All-Metro. As a senior, she again won the State Championship, Regional Championship, and the Sunflower League Championship. Again, she was 1st team All-Sun Country, All-Metro, Kansas Player of the Year, and was the All-Metro Elite Selection. After graduation from Shawnee Mission South, she played at the University of Kansas and was a member of the last Big 8 Championship team. Additionally, she was the last Big 8 indoor singles champion, and she was selected for the All-Conference team. As a junior in college, she was the first Big 12 singles champion and first Big 12 doubles champion – another legacy worth highlighting! It is therefore very fitting that Christine takes her place amongst the elite of Shawnee Mission South athletes. The Shawnee Mission South community excitedly welcomes Christine to the Raider Athletic Hall of Fame. Congratulations, you are now where you belong."
