Kurt Anselmi
Dive - Class of 1976
"Kurt Anselmi was one of the finest, if not the finest diver ever to dive in the state of Kansas. During the time of three-year high school, Kurt placed 2nd in the State Championships his sophomore year, and he was State Champion his junior and senior years. The scoring record he set lasted for more than 25 years… a record that would still be standing had there not been rule changes that affected the manner of scoring and the format of the diving competition. Kurt was a focused leader who was voted captain his senior year. Kurt led the team by example, always dedicating himself to being the best diver possible. Upon graduation from Shawnee Mission South , Kurt attended the University of Kansas as a scholarship athlete where he was also a champion. Though diving is an individual sport, Kurt inspired both his swim and dive teammates through his hard work and excellence. Due to his hard work, dedication, and excellence, the Shawnee Mission South Raider Hall of Fame is elated to welcome Kurt Anselmi to its ranks. It is only fitting that Kurt is the first swim and dive athlete selected to enter the Raider Hall of Fame.
