Description: The girls’ soccer program offers three teams: a varsity, junior varsity, and c-team. These teams compete in a sixteen game season in the Sunflower League. The program has enjoyed a tradition of class and success and is committed to providing a positive experience and developmental approach for its players.
Requirements: In order to participate in girls’ soccer at Shawnee Mission South in the spring, you must have four items on file in the office by the first day of tryouts: a physical, an athletic information packet, a drug/alcohol contract, and a player information form. You also must attend the sign up days in order to receive a tryout number and a tryout schedule.
Meetings and Events: The season runs from late February to late May. The season typically has sixteen regular season games—Varsity and JV typically play on Tuesday and Thursdays at 5:00 and 7:00 respectively. The C team usually plays on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:00 or 4:30. Varsity and JV home games are played at the Shawnee Mission District Soccer Complex and the Shawnee Mission South Stadium, and home C team games are played at Indian Woods. Practices during the season begin after school and typically last about two hours. All teams can be expected to practice Monday through Friday and occasionally on Saturday mornings. Teams may practice at South, Indian Woods, or Nall Park.
