Counseling

Shawnee Mission South High School Counselors are available to assist students and parents with academic counseling and advisement, personal/social concerns, and post graduation plans relating to career and college. Please contact us at 913-993-7530  if you have any questions or concerns.

22-23 schedules will be available in Skyward on July 25th .  At that time, you can contact your counselor if you are missing a class or have an incomplete schedule.

Summer Academy courses are in person classes that are being offered at SMW this summer. Summer Academy courses, with the exceptions of PE, Art, and Health, are for credit recovery only. Transportation and cost are the responsibility of the student/family.  These courses may use Edgenuity, an online credit recovery program, but the expectation is that students do this work under the supervision of a teacher and in person.

SMSD eSchool courses are virtual courses that are for initial credit. If so desired, these courses can be taken for credit recovery. However, it is important to know that these courses include 60-65 hours of online coursework. Students who enroll in eSchool courses should be self-starters and motivated. Transportation (orientation and final exam) and cost are the responsibility of the student/family.

Please view the links below for more detailed information on how to enroll, costs, dates/times, expectations, etc.
